FMP III
Projections
Green Tambourine
For the Performing Arts Theatre production of NIC, a sequence of hallucinogenic visuals were required to show the effects of drug use in a specific scene. These visuals were to be screened behind the actors using a projector placed behind a large screen.
My task for this project was to plan, film and edit a short video that could show to the audience what the characters in the scene were experiencing in a comedic way.

Initial designs
Inspired by the James Bond title sequences, my original storyboards for the video consisted mostly with the playing and manipulating of scale. Giant tambourines, people running on piano keys and minuscule figures casually floating through the abyss.
The overall aesthetic of these drawings were based from Recess School's Out opening title sequence, which also used Green Tambourine. The musical instruments and images of nature were very reminiscent of that opening sequence.

Directors Commentary
Final Thoughts
Overall, I am happy with how this project has turned out. The visuals ended up looking up bizarre and comedic, which was the desired effect from the Director.
I went to the premier screening for the show to see how a live audience would react to the sequence, without knowing anything about them. Thankfully, the audience seemed to enjoy the sequence very much, with a good amount of laughter throughout.
Unfortunately, the song was out of sync with the visuals on the day, meaning the beats didn't match the visuals, but fortunately I don't think anyone in the audience really noticed.
